also in my town (boston) they have a crazy good deal on Logic at the Boston University Comptuer store. my comment about price is based on DP retail vs. it has less 3rd party stuff but nice TC verbs and also LA2A and 1176, etcĮDIT. On the other hand, the LM has more EQs and COMPs than the UAD, and they UAD will make you pay to get more. I'm just basing that on the fact that LM is ONLY eq and comps. UAD1 probably a better all around performer that LM, although I haven't used the LM (yet). Not like other DAWs sometimes in use of terminology. though logic 8 might make that less of an issue than it was with 8. You can probably get the educational discount too if you know a student or teacher. Want a convolution reverb? Yeah, it's in there.Ĭheaper than DP at least at full retail. For example, want autotune? I am looking at the Focusrite 26 i/o, since Aardvark is out of business and does not support Mac os, and I am weighing the option between the Focusrite Liquid Mix and the UAD plugins. Any info that could help me with this decision, or any other suggestion would be extremely helpful, for at this moment I am torn. I do not deal with midi often, but I like the capability when I do need it. I deal mostly with rock bands and will be doing location recording with some larger praise bands. I have received hardly any specifics as to why either is the better platform. I have been pushed in one direction or the other by people I have talked to, but they all obviously were biased towards one and had little or no experience in the other. I'm upgrading to one of the new 8 core Mac Pros, and I am torn between DP and Logic.
